#1 Harvard Tops #11 Women's Squash, 9-0, On Senior Day

ITHACA, N.Y. — The women's squash team's regular-season finale resulted in a 9-0 loss to top-ranked Harvard on Saturday afternoon at Belkin International Squash Courts.

In a rematch of the championship match in last year's College Squash Association's Individual National Championships, Harvard's Gina Kennedy topped sophomore Sivasangari Subramaniam in the match at No. 1. It was Subramaniam's first loss of the season, halting her winning streak at 12. The result will likely make Subramaniam the second seed in this season's individual championships, which are slated to run from March 6-8 in Philadelphia.

Other than Subramaniam, only senior Madison Miles (No. 4) and junior Mimi deLisser (No. 5) were able to win games for the Big Red, which has never defeated Harvard in 27 all-time meetings.

Cornell (5-10, 1-6 Ivy League) will compete in next week's National Team Championships in New Haven, Connecticut. The Big Red is unlikely to move significantly from its current standing of 11th in the CSA's national rankings. That makes the squad a likely candidate to be the defending champion of the Kurtz Cup, which is the 'B' flight of the championships.

Saturday also featured a ceremony to commemorate the final home matches in the careers of Colby Gallagher, Lucy Martin and Madison Miles. More information on the Big Red's schedule for the Kurtz Cup will available a few days before the start of the event.
