#19 Men's Soccer Challenges Yale on the Road

ITHACA, N.Y. - Cornell men's soccer will play its third game in seven days when it heads to New Haven, Conn. for a 4 p.m. match against Ivy League foe Yale on Saturday, Oct. 16 at Reese Stadium.

• Cornell defeated Colgate on Tuesday, Oct. 12 by a score of 2-0 to improve to 8-1-1 for the season and extend its win streak to four games.
Tyler Bagley and Jonah Kagen each scored first half goals to pace the Big Red 
offensively.
Brady McSwain made two saves en route to Cornell's second clean sheet of the season and the second of his career.
Emeka Eneli, Charles Touche and Bagley each earned assists for their contributions on the two goals scored.
• Colgate goalkeeper Nick Gerlach did well to prevent Cornell from scoring more, making nine saves.

• Cornell moved up five spots to #19 in the United Soccer Coaches rankings this week.
• The Big Red is ranked #13 in the first NCAA Men's Soccer RPI rankings released on Monday, Oct. 11.
• Cornell ranks #2 in the United Soccer Coaches Northeast Region behind New Hampshire.
 

Big Red by the Numbers:

• Cornell has the top scoring offense in the country averaging 3.00 goals per game. The Big Red is also generating the most chances with 8.70 shots on goal per game.
• The Big Red ranks second in points per game (8.50) and is ninth in total goals scored (30).
• Senior Tyler Bagley has been among the best players in the country this season, leading the country in total points (27), points per game (2.70). Bagley ranks third in goals (10) and 10th in assists (7).
 

About Yale:

• Yale is 4-4-3 overall and is coming off of a 1-1 draw with #4 New Hampshire on Tuesday.
• The Bulldogs have wins over Fairfield, UMass Lowell, Boston College and Dartmouth this season.
• Yale ranks #120 in scoring offense nationally with 1.36 goals per game and it's goals against of 1.20 ranks #77.
• Yale is led in scoring by Paolo Carroll who has seven goals and two assists to his name this season. Eric Lagos is second on the team in goals with four, followed by Kahveh Zahiroleslam with three.
• Sigfus Arnason leads the team in assists with four.
• In goal, Elian Haddock has made 36 saves in 10 games, good for a .735 save percentage and a 1.25 goals against average. Chris Edwards earned the start in goal against New Hampshire on Tuesday.

• Yale leads the all-time series 49-26-16 and won the last meeting by a score of 3-1 on Oct. 18, 2019.
 

Defensive Darlings:

Jonah Kagen, Tate Keir, Henry Hylbert and Kisa Kiingi are the primary starters in Cornell's back line, with Mateo Rodriguez, Nick Allen, Connor Drought, and Cam Maquat also making starts. Kagen has made nine starts in 10 matches for the Big Red.
• Kagen scored his first goal of the season against Colgate on Tuesday. It was just the 
second goal of his career, with the first happening on Nov. 3, 2018 in match against 
Dartmouth his freshman season.
• Goalkeeper Brady McSwain has started all 10 of Cornell's matches thus far making 36 saves. McSwain owns a .720 save percentage and a 1.34 goals against average.
 

Midfield Maestros:

Tyler Bagley, Harry Fuller, Wilson Eisner and Lalo Serrano have been Cornell's consistent starting four in the midfield all season.
• Bagley is the team leader in goals (10), while Fuller has five to his name. 
• Kagen has the ability to shift up into the midfield as well, along with Alioune Ka, Brandon Morales and Kurt Lehmkuhl. Morales is tied for third on the team with three assists. Ka is tied for fourth on the team in total points (5) on two goals and one assist.
 

Fast Forwards:

Emeka Eneli has started all 10 games up front for the Big Red and has been joined by Charles Touche, Matthew Goncalves and Brandon Morales in the starting lineup this season. Freshman Danny Lokko made his collegiate debut against Colgate.
• Eneli owns six goals and is second on the team in assists with four. Eneli's 16 points match the career-best he set as a freshman in 2018.
• Touche is tied for fourth on the team in points with one goal and three assists, while Goncalves has one goal to his name.
 

Up Next:

• Cornell will head on the road to play Binghamton on Tuesday, Oct. 19 at 7 p.m. The Bearcats are 7-4-1 this season having lost two straight.
