Men’s Soccer Extends Winning Streak with 3-1 Victory over Fairleigh Dickinson

TEANECK, N.J. - With a victory on Saturday night, the Cornell men's soccer program extended its winning streak to four games following a 3-1 win over Fairleigh Dickinson at University Stadium.

Cornell (4-1) made the most of its limited chances in front of the net, scoring three times on five shots on goal. The Big Red matched Fairleigh Dickinson on total shots with eight, but held a 5-3 advantage in shots on goal. Junior goalkeeper Brady McSwain made a pair of saves to increase his season total to 18 alongside a .692 save percentage.

Reigning United Soccer Coaches National Player of the Week Tyler Bagley got the Big Red on the scoreboard early with a goal in the 12th minute. A through pass into the 18-yard box looked as if it would be smothered by the Fairleigh Dickinson goalkeeper, but a play on the ball by Bagley extended the action and allowed him time to settle and fire off a shot on net. It's Bagley's sixth goal of the season and his fourth consecutive match with a goal scored.

A foul at the top of the 18-yard box in the 19th minute provided Cornell with a penalty kick opportunity. Senior forward Emeka Eneli looked to be in prime position for a shot on goal before being tripped up by a Knight defender. Fifth-year midfielder Harry Fuller took the PK and scored it to extend Cornell's advantage. It's Fuller's second penalty kick goal of the season and second in as many games.

Fairleigh Dickinson's Diego Arribas got the Knights in the scoring column in the 61st minute, scoring his second goal of the season. Arribas is the scoring leader for FDU with seven points this season.

Cornell regained a two goal advantage late in the match when senior forward Charles Touche found Eneli in the 74th minute. Sprinting down the left side of the field, Touche shed his defender and found Eneli on a run towards the 6-yard box. With the goalkeeper off his line, Eneli tapped in an easy shot to provide the Big Red with some insurance.

Up Next: Cornell returns to the confines of Berman Field on Tuesday for a regional rivalry match against Syracuse at 7 p.m. Syracuse (4-3) was defeated by Louisville on Friday night in double overtime, 5-4.
