ITHACA, N.Y. -- Senior midfielder
Tyler Bagley was chosen in the second round of the 2022 Major League Soccer SuperDraft on Tuesday evening. Bagley, taken with the 54th pick overall by the Inter Miami FC, became the second Cornellian chosen all-time in the SuperDraft.
Bagley started all 16 games for the 11-3-2 Big Red, scoring 14 goals with seven assists for 35 points. A unanimous first-team All-Ivy League and first-team Northeast all-region pick, Bagley finished the season ranked No. 2 in the country in scoring, with his 14 goals ranking fourth nationally. His points per game of 2.19 topped the nation. Bagley was twice named Ivy League Player of the Week and to the Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week, and on September 14th earned United Soccer Coaches National Player of the Week accolades. Bagley had four multi-goal games on the season, including two goals and an assist in an overtime victory over UC Santa Barbara. He also notched a goal and three assists in a win against Harvard.
He joins midfielder Ian Pilarski (2004, 49th overall) as the lone Big Red players to be chosen in the SuperDraft. Additionally, goalkeeper David Mahoney was chosen 15th overall in the 2005 MLS Supplemental Draft.
