ITHACA, N.Y. —
Humza Khan accounted for the Cornell men's squash team's lone point on Friday in an 8-1 loss to Princeton in an Ivy League match at Belkin International Squash Courts.
Victories at the #4 and #9 positions got fifth-ranked Princeton (5-3, 2-2 Ivy League) off to a strong start, leading into the fifth game of the match at #1. Junior
Veer Chotrani jumped out to a quick two-game lead, but Youssef Ibrahim rallied all the way back to complete the sweep of the opening rotation for the visitors.
Cornell (3-5, 2-3 Ivy League) – which entered the weekend ranked seventh by the College Squash Association – could not find any traction the rest of the way. Nicholas Göth Errington was the only Big Red competitor to win a game during the next wave of matches. That left Princeton with a 6-0 lead by the time the final three scoring matches commenced.
Khan then won the third game to claw his way back into the match at #8, then he was awarded the victory when his opponent retired due to injury.
Up next for Cornell is a noon Sunday match against top-ranked Penn in Philadelphia.
The match will be available through subscription-based Ivy League Network, which is powered by Stretch Internet. Live scoring will also be available through the CSA's website, csasquash.com.
