PRINCETON, N.J. -- The Cornell men's soccer team improved to 8-1 on the road this season with a 3-1 victory over Princeton on Saturday afternoon at Myslik Field. The win improved the Big Red to 11-3-0 (3-1-0 Ivy), while the Tigers slipped to 5-5-2 (1-2-1 Ivy).
Kisa Kiingi had two goals and an assist and
Brandon Morales tallied once and assisted on both of Kiingi's scores as the Big Red offense scored three goals for the second consecutive contest.
Ryan Friedberg made four saves in the win.
Cornell was out-shot 12-11 by the Tigers, though much of the Princeton work was done after it trailed 2-0. The Big Red put nine shots on target to five for Princeton.
The Big Red tallied early to set the tone, getting on the board in the 13th minute with Kiingi on the finishing end of assists by Morales and
Noel Ortega to grab the lead. It stayed that way until Kiingi and
Connor Drought set up Morales early in the second half. Princeton's Ryan Clare got the home team within one in the 57th minute, but the junior's second score of the day came just 44 seconds later to push the advantage back to two.
Friedberg made four stops, two in each half, to pick up his 11th win of the season.
Cornell returns home to face Dartmouth on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 4 p.m. at Berman Field.
