PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Ivy League leader Brown scored goals in each half and improved to 4-0-1 in Ivy League play with a 2-0 shutout of Cornell on Saturday afternoon at Stevenson-Pincince Field in women's soccer action. The Big Red fell to 2-7-5 (0-3-2 Ivy) with the Bears upping their record to 10-2-2.
Ava Seelenfreund and Lucinda Anderson each scored as Brown out-shot the Big Red 19-3, including 12-0 in the decisive first half. Bella Schopp needed to make just one save for the clean sheet for the Bears.
Erica Fox had six saves between the pipes to keep the Big Red in it and
Sara DeGraw put her lone shot of the night on goal in the second half for one of Cornell's top chances.
Seelenfreund netted her eighth goal of the year in the 24th minute and the game held that way until Anderson was on the end of passes by Claire Myers and Brittany Rapinho for some insurance. DeGraw's chance came in the 65th minute on a high shot, but it was gathered up by Schopp to prevent Cornell from equalizing.
The Big Red returns to action when it welcomes Princeton to Berman Field on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 1 p.m.
