Men’s Soccer Tabbed No. 13 in NCAA Men’s Soccer Committee Top 16

ITHACA, N.Y. – Two weeks before the NCAA Division I Men's Soccer committee is set to release the 48-team field for the 2022 NCAA Men's Soccer Championship, the committee revealed Friday evening the top 16 teams for results through Oct. 27 during halftime of the Duke – Virginia Tech game on the ACC Network.

Cornell was picked No. 13 in the reveal, being the lone Ivy League program to earn a top-16 ranking.

The Big Red, who are currently 11-3-0 on the year, are vying to punch its first ticket to the NCAA Tournament since 2012.

Per the release, the top 16 "is based on the criteria used to select and seed the 48 teams for the Division I Men's Soccer Championship and in no particular order includes strength of schedules, Ratings Percentage Index, head-to-head competition, results versus common opponents, strength and results against non-conference opponents, late season performance in the last eight games and strength against conference opponents."

Of the 48 teams that will compose the 2022 NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championship, 23 will receive automatic conference qualifiers and there will be 25 at-large selections. The tournament field will be released on Monday, Nov. 14, at 1 p.m. on NCAA.com.

The top 16 teams will receive first-round byes and host second-round matchups on their respective home fields. First round action begins Thursday, Nov. 17.

For the fourth consecutive season and eight overall time, WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C., will host the final four teams at the Men's College Cup. The national semifinals will take place Friday, Dec. 9, and the national championship will be Monday, Dec. 12.

Cornell hosts Dartmouth on Saturday at Berman Field at 4 p.m., with hopes of posting its 12th victory of the season. Game action will be broadcast on ESPN+.
