Adebi Earns Ivy League Special Teams Player of the Week

ITHACA, N.Y. -- Junior tight end Manny Adebi was named the Ivy League Special Teams Player of the Week after making an impact for the Big Red in Cornell's 35-6 loss at No. 22 Princeton this past weekend. It's his first weekly award after just his third varsity game.

Adebi blocked two kicks, a first quarter field goal and a second quarter PAT, becoming the first Cornell player to block a pair of kicks in a game since Joel Sussman at Bucknell on Sept. 18, 2004. He became just the third player in Cornell's 135-year history to block two kicks in a game, and his three blocks in just three games is already one off the single season record for blocks (Ed Groszewski with four in 1991). The junior's performance is tied for the most by a FCS player in a game this season, and he now ranks tied for first in the Ancient Eight with Harvard's Truman Jones - one behind the national leaders (four).

Adebi and the Big Red return home to face Penn on Saturday, Nov. 5 at 1 p.m. at Schoellkopf Field.
