Alafia Ayeni topped No. 48 Ryan Seggerman of Princeton in straight sets at No. 1 singles, but the Tigers were able to outlast the Big Red to claim a 4-1 victory on Friday afternoon at the Lenz Tennis Center.
Ayeni picked up a 6-2, 6-3 victory at No. 1 singles for the team's lone win, giving the 44th-ranked player in the country his 18th individual win of the season. He was also in a dog fight in doubles when the No. 1 spot was abandoned with he and Vlad Melnic, ranked No. 39 nationally, trailing 31st-ranked Seggerman and Justin Barki 6-5.
Two of Princeton's singles win came in three sets, and two more matches ended up unfinished in the third.
The Big Red will welcome No. 45 Penn to Reis Tennis Center on Sunday, April 24 at 1 p.m.
