• Morales and Ka registered braces and added an assist for the Big Red, who ended the contest with the second-most goals in program history.

Connor Drought had a four-point night with his one goal and two assists. Kisa Kiingi and Emeka Eneli chipped three points apiece with a goal and an assist. Matthew Goncalves (one goal) and Nick Allen (one assist) also found their way on the scoresheet.

• First-year goalkeepers Ryan Friedberg and Evan Sims combined for the clean sheet for the Big Red. Friedberg made one save during his 78:35 of action. Sims, who made his collegiate debut, did not face a shot in the last 11:25 of the contest.

One for the Record Books

• The eight goals scored by Cornell on Tuesday against Canisius were the second-most by a Big Red squad in a single game, dating back to 1947. It was the most goals scored since the program record was set on Sept. 24, 1965, when Cornell won its season-opener over Syracuse, 12-0.

• Tuesday was the 14th time in program history, since 1947, in which Cornell scored at least six goals in a match. It was the Big Red's first time netting six-plus goals in a contest since Oct. 12, 2019, in a 6-0 victory over Harvard.

• The Big Red score five of its eight goals in the first half on Tuesday, marking the second time in as many years that Cornell has scored five goals in a half. Last year, Cornell scored five first-half goals against Harvard on Oct. 9, before winning the contest, 5-4.

• Cornell's eight goals are the second-most by a Division I program this season, trailing Cal St. Fullerton, who scored 10 times against LIFE Pacific, an NAIA school, on Aug. 28. The Big Red's eight goals are tied with Siena and UMBC, who each scored eight goals against Hartford and Fairfield, respectively, for the most against a Division I opponent.

About the Big Red

• Sophomore forward Alioune Ka has a team-leading 10 points (four goals, two assists), while senior midfielder Brandon Morales is right behind Ka with nine points (four goals, one assist). Fifth-year forward Emeka Eneli and senior defender Connor Drought each have seven points behind one goal and five assists.

• Freshman goalkeeper Ryan Friedberg has been Cornell's go-to goalkeeper this season. He has started all of the Big Red's six matches so far this season, posting a 5-1-0 record to go along with a 0.68 goals-against average and a .733 save percentage.

What's at Stake

• A victory on Saturday would be the Big Red's best seven-game start to a season since 2013, when Cornell had a 5-0-2 record after its first seven matches. That year, Cornell opened the year on an eight-game unbeaten streak (6-0-2) before concluding the year with an 8-5-4 mark.

• With a win, Cornell would have six victories in its first seven matches for the first time since 2012, when the Big Red began play with 12 consecutive wins. Cornell posted a 15-1 regular season record before falling to Syracuse in the NCAA Tournament.

• Cornell would have a 5-1-1 record through its first seven games for a second consecutive season with a draw on Saturday. Last year's squad was 5-1-1 after its first seven games before going 11-3-2.

Friedberg's Strong Start

• Freshman goalkeeper Ryan Friedberg has shined for the Big Red between the pipes this season.

• His five victories make him the third Cornell freshman goalkeeper with five-plus wins. The record is seven, initially set by Stephen Bott in 1983 before being matched by Quinn O'Sullivan in 1992.

• Tuesday marked the third time Friedberg has been a part of  a clean sheet for Cornell this season. He has the third-most shutouts by a Cornell freshman goalkeeper, only trailing Bott (7 in 1983) and O'Sullivan (4.5 in 1992).

• Friedberg's 0.68 goals-against average is the best by any Ivy League goalkeeper, and ranks 27th nationally following Tuesday's contests. Penn's Nick Christoffersen has the second-highest average of any Ivy League keeper (0.84).

• With his 0.68 goals-against average, Friedberg has the second-lowest average by a freshman goalkeeper in Division I. Clemson's Joseph Andema is the only freshman ahead of Friedberg, as he has not conceded a goal in his first 360 minutes of collegiate action.

Road Warriors

• After last Saturday's victory at Niagara, Cornell improved to 22-9-1 on the road since the beginning of the 2018 season, good for a .703 win percentage.

• Cornell is one of five Division I schools to post a win percentage north of .700 on the road over the last four-plus seasons. Only Missouri State (.821), Saint Mary's (.776), Washington (.721), and UCF (.707) have higher percentages.

• The Big Red is one of 17 programs to be undefeated on the road this season. Cornell's four road victories are tied with Xavier, Vermont, and Gardner-Webb for the most by a Division I program this season. Cornell is one of three teams with a 4-0-0 road mark in 2022 (Xavier and Vermont).

• A victory Saturday would be Cornell's sixth consecutive road win, dating back to 2021. The Big Red's current five-game road win streak is the tied with Xavier for the second-longest active streak. Only Vermont has a longer streak, claiming victory in its last six road matches.

Scouting the Red Foxes

• Marist enters this Saturday's contest with a 4-1-1 record. The lone setback for the Red Foxes came on Sept. 15 in a 2-1 loss to Gonzaga in Spokane, Wash.

• The Red Foxes are 2-0 at Tenney Stadium this season, defeating UAlbany, 2-1, on Sept. 5 and Florida Atlantic, 2-0, on Sept. 10.

• Jared Juleau has logged his Marist-leading eight points during his active five-game point streak. He has two goals and four assists in the span, which includes a four-game assist streak. Richard Morel has scored a team-leading three goals for the Red Foxes.

• Sam Ilin has played all 540 minutes for Marist in goal, posting a 4-1-1 record with a 0.67 goals-against average and a .800 save percentage.

Series vs. Marist

• Saturday's match with the Red Foxes is just the second meeting between the Empire State schools. Cornell won the match, 5-1, which occurred last year on Sept. 25 at Berman Field.

• After Marist's Stefan Copetti scored in the fourth minute, Cornell scored the final five goals of the match to take the convincing victory. Tyler Bagley and Emeka Eneli each scored twice for the Big Red, who outshot the Red Foxes, 22-13. Charles Touche scored the other marker for Cornell. Brady McSwain made six saves in goal for the Big Red

Looking Ahead

• Cornell will open Ivy League play next Saturday, Oct. 1, when the Big Red welcome Harvard to Berman Field. The contest is slated for a 4 p.m. start, following the women's soccer match against Penn. Game action will be broadcast on ESPN+.
