Five Former Big Red Players Among the Ivy Roster For Japan-U.S. Dream Bowl

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Ivy League roster for the Japan-U.S. Dream Bowl in Tokyo was unveiled Wednesday afternoon and includes five former members of the Big Red football team. Three former All-Ivy picks, including two-time selection Thomas Glover, lead the Cornell contingent.

Glover (wide receiver) will be joined in Japan by former All-Ivy players Joe Kelly (offensive line) and Max Lundeen (defensive line), as well as Big Red safety Isaiah Hogan and quarterback Ben Mays.
 

Thomas Glover, WR

• Caught 48 passes for 540 yards and six touchdowns and also ran for a score while starting all 10 games at wide receiver en route to second-team All-Ivy League honors in 2022.
• His five receiving touchdowns in league play led the Ivy League, while his six overall was second.
• First-team All-Ivy in 2021.
• Closed his Big Red career with 106 catches (14th all-time at Cornell) for 1,347 yards (No. 15) and 10 touchdowns (No. 10).
 

Isaiah Hogan, S

• Played in 21 career games, posting 56 tackles with three for a loss with an interception and three pass breakups.
• Recorded 38 tackles with an interception and three pass breakups in 10 contests as a senior in 2021.
• Intercepted a pass, broke up another and ended the day with five tackles vs. Brown.
 

Joe Kelly, OL

• Started all 10 games at guard and blocked for an offense that led the Ivy League in time of possession by nearly two minutes per game in 2022.
• The offensive line surrendered just 14 sacks, the second-fewest in school history (nine in 2021).
• The team allowed one sack or fewer in six contests, including two games with zero sacks allowed.
• Two-year starter, opened his final 20 career games.
 

Max Lundeen, DL

• Had 19 tackles with team highs of 4.0 tackles for loss, three sacks and two forced fumbles in 2022.
• Was third in the Ivy in fumbles forced (two).
• Strip-sack with under 30 seconds remaining inside the Cornell 10 helped the Big Red top Brown on the road.
• Two-year starter on the defensive line.
 

Ben Mays, QB

• Two-year letter winner, started two career games.
• Completed 42-of-74 passes for 567 yards and three touchdowns while running 15 times for 27 yards.
• Appeared in eight games over two seasons.
 

The U.S. Dream Bowl roster consists of seniors and graduate student-athletes from all eight Ivy football programs. The group comprises of 22 players that earned All-Ivy honors throughout their careers. The team will be led by Columbia head coach Al Bagnoli and the Lions' coaching staff.

The game will be held on January 21 at 11 p.m. EST in the United States (Sunday, January 22 at 1 p.m. JST locally) at the newly-built National Stadium, site of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. The event will be broadcast live in Japan.

The Ivy League delegation will arrive in Tokyo on January 15 and balance its time between preparation for the game along with several Japanese cultural and educational events, including a planned visit to the U.S. Embassy, interaction with Ivy League alumni, discussions with Japanese students and social exchanges with the Japanese team. The league's group will be joined by two professors from Ivy League institutions to further the educational experience of the travel party.
