#2 Penn Sweeps #8 Men’s Squash, Snaps Big Red’s Five-Match Win Streak

ITHACA, N.Y. – The No. 2-ranked Penn men's squash team posted a 9-0 victory over No. 8-ranked Cornell in a battle of top-10 Ivy League programs at the Belkin Squash Courts on Friday afternoon.

Cornell (5-1, 0-1 Ivy) saw its five-match win streak snapped as Penn (9-0, 1-0 Ivy) continued its torrid stretch to open the year, posting its ninth consecutive win to open the season.

Senior Veer Chotrani was the lone Cornell player to claim set victories, falling to Nathan Tze Bing Kueh in a five-set match.

After dropping the opening set, 11-9, Chotrani posted victories of 11-6 and 11-9. Tze Bing Kueh responded with consecutive 11-9 set wins to claim the victory in the match, which took 61 minutes to complete.

The loss for Chotrani was his first in regular-season action since Feb. 13, 2021, snapping his eight-match win streak.

Fellow senior Nicholas Göth Errington and sophomore Rohan Iyer also had their seven-match win streaks broken on Friday.

Göth Errington fell in the No. 9 match to Abdelrahman Dweek in straight sets, while Iyer also lost in straight sets. Iyer threatened Saksham Choudhary throughout the match, including a pair of set losses by 14-12 scores.

Looking Ahead

Cornell returns to the court on Sunday when it travels to the Garden State to take on No. 3-ranked Princeton. The first group of matches from Jadwin Gymnasium is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Matches will be streamed live on Stretch Internet.
