PRINCETON, N.J. -- Senior place-kicker/punter
Jackson Kennedy earned his third Ivy Special Teams Player of the Week honor in six weeks. Kennedy is the third Cornellian to be a mutli-time special teams honoree, and the first since 2017 when Nolan Null earned the honor four times.
Against Brown, Kennedy went 3-for-3 in field goals, marking the third time this season he made at least three, and the second time he went perfect on three attempts. He joins Mike Cochrane (1992) as the only Big Red player to make three or more field goals in three games in a single season. Kennedy drilled a 28-yard field goal as time expired to end the first half. The senior has now ended five of the past nine halves of play with a walk-off kick. With 97 career points, Kennedy is up to 10th place all-time in kicking points where he's tied with Trevor MacMeekin '05. Kennedy's 13 field goals is tied for second all-time and is one shy of AJ Weitsman's school record of 14 from 2005. Kennedy's 20 field goals in the past two seasons are the most over a two-year span at Cornell, surpassing Mike Cochrane (1992-92) and Peter Zell (2006-07) with 19.
Jameson Wang,
Paul Lewis III, and
Ean Pope all earned nods to the honor roll for their efforts against Brown.
The Big Red is back in action this weekend when the team hosts Princeton to close out a three-game road stand. Action is set to kick of at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28 at Schoellkopf Field.
