ITHACA, N.Y. — The No. 5-ranked Cornell women's squash team will host No. 8-ranked Columbia in the program's final home match of the 2022-23 season on Saturday at the Belkin Squash Courts.
First matches are scheduled for noon. Action can be viewed live on Stretch Internet.
Cornell (8-3, 4-2 Ivy), with a win on Saturday, would have its first nine-win season since Dave Palmer's first year at the helm of the program in 2016-17.
Last weekend, the Big Red split its pair of matches against No. 2 Harvard and No. 10 Dartmouth. Cornell fell to the Crimson, 6-3, before posting an 8-1 win over the Big Green.
Sivasangari Subramaniam,
Wen Li Lai, and
Aishwarya Khubchandani won both of their matches last weekend. Lai and Khubchandani both registered five-game victories over Harvard.
Lai is riding a 15-match win streak, dating back to last season, as the junior is a perfect 11-0 on the year. Subramaniam is also on a long win streak, having won her last 24 matches.
Scouting Columbia
Columbia enters Saturday's match with a 3-6 overall record and 2-3 mark in Ivy League play.
Like Cornell, the Lions split its pair of matches against Dartmouth and Harvard last weekend. Columbia swept Dartmouth before falling to Harvard, 5-4.
Chan Sin Yuk is a perfect 8-0 on the year for the Lions, while Farida Mohamed (7-1) and Kiroshanna Manoharan (7-2) each have seven wins on the year.
In last year's meeting in New York, Columbia defeated Cornell, 5-4, behind a trio of four-match victories at the No. 2, No. 3, and No. 5 positions.
Cornell is looking for its first victory over its fellow Empire State-based Ivy League foe since posting a 6-3 win at the Howe Cup on Feb. 26, 2017.
Looking Ahead
Cornell will conclude its regular-season schedule with a pair of games next weekend in Philadelphia. The Big Red will play No. 3 Drexel on Friday, Feb. 10 at 7 p.m., before facing No. 7 Virginia on Sunday, Feb. 12 at 2 p.m.
