PHILADELPHIA — All seven match victories for No. 6-ranked Virginia came in three games as the Cavaliers defeated No. 8-ranked Cornell, 7-2, at the Penn Squash Center on Sunday afternoon.
Virginia (13-3) earned its 11th victory in its last 12 matches, after having its 10-game win streak snapped on Saturday against Princeton.
The Cavaliers posted three-game victories at the top six positions.
Tanay Punjabi (No. 7) and
Nicholas Göth Errington recorded four-game victories for the Big Red (7-7).
Punjabi won the first two games of his match against Tyler Mackesy, 11-9, 11-4, before Mackesy forced a fourth game with an 11-6 win. The Cornellian sophomore claimed victory with another 11-9 win.
Göth Errington and Charles Braff split the first two games with identical 11-6 scores. In the final two games, Göth Errington registered 11-8 and 11-9 scores to earn his third consecutive victory.
