PHILADELPHIA — Freshmen
Aishwarya Khubchandani and
Alysa Ali, along with seniors
Lily Zelov and
McKenna Stoltz, posted victories for the No. 6-ranked Cornell women's squash team in its 5-4 loss to No. 7-ranked Columbia in the semifinals of the consolation bracket at the Howe Cup on Saturday afternoon.
Stoltz (No. 9) logged a three-game victory for the Big Red, while Khubchandani (No. 3) and Ali (No. 6) had four-game victories.
Zelov registered a come-from-behind win in five games at the No. 5 position. After falling down by two games, 11-6, 12-10, the Cornell senior coasted to victory with game scores of 11-5, 11-9, 11-8.
Farida Mohamed and Chan Sin Yuk had three-game victories at the top of the ladder for Columbia.
Mohamed's 11-7, 11-4, 11-4 win over
Sivasangari Subramaniam snapped a 28-match win streak for the Big Red senior.
Amal Izhar registered the only other three-game victory for the Lions at the No. 8 position. The remaining matches all needed at least four games.
