HARTFORD, Conn. —
Arnaav Sareen and Nicholas Göth Errington posted five-game victories to lift the No. 8-ranked Cornell men's squash team past No. 5-ranked Virginia, 5-4, in the consolation semifinals of the Potter Cup at the College Squash National Championships on Saturday night.
In what proved to be a back-and-forth contest throughout, Sareen and Göth Errington's wins secured Cornell a spot in the consolation final with No. 7-ranked Drexel on Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
Drexel also posted an upset in the other consolation semifinal, defeating No. 3-ranked Princeton by a 5-4 score.
Tanay Punjabi gave Cornell an early lead with his three-game victory at the No. 7 position, which included a marathon third game that ended with a 16-14 score.
Virginia took the next two matches at the No. 1 and No. 5 positions, but the Big Red would even the match at 3-all with victories by
Morgan Huberman and
Spencer Yager.
Huberman avenged dropping the opening game, 11-4, with victories of 12-10, 11-5, 11-8. Yager claimed the decisive fifth set, 11-5, after opening the match with 11-7 and 11-3 wins.
The Cavaliers regained the lead with a three-game victory at the No. 2 position before Sareen and Göth Errington's matches went final.

Scouting Drexel
Drexel, who is currently No. 7 in the College Squash Association's rankings, has a 9-8 overall record on the year. The Dragons fell to No. 2-ranked Penn, 7-2, in the quarterfinals of the Potter Cup before recording its upset victory over Princeton.
Cornell fell to Drexel, 6-3, back on Feb. 10 in Philadelphia. Sareen, Yager, and Göth Errington posted victories in the setback.
