ITHACA, N.Y. — Three members of the Cornell men's squash team will participate at this weekend's College Squash Association National Individual Championships at the Arlen Specter U.S. Squash Center in Philadelphia.
Senior
Veer Chotrani will be the No. 7 seed in the top division of the championships where he will face the No. 10 seed Omar El Torkey of Virginia.
Last season, Chotrani was the No. 9 seed in the same division and posted a victory over No. 8-seeded Lewis Anderson of St. Lawrence, 11-7, 13-11, 11-5. Chotrani later fell to Princeton's Youssef Ibrahim, who was the top-seeded player, in the quarterfinals in three games.
Chotrani posted a 9-8 record exclusively at the No. 1 position for the Big Red this season, who finished with an overall record of 8-9 on the year and a 3-4 mark in Ivy League play.
Sophomore
Aaron Liang is the No. 2 seed in the Molloy Cup East bracket, where he will face No. 15-seeded Nimai Kini from Wesleyan.
Liang competed exclusively at the No. 2 position for the Big Red this season, posting a 5-11 record at the spot.
Fellow sophomore
Arnaav Sareen is the No. 3 seed in the Molloy Cup West bracket, where he will face the No. 14 seed, and his fellow countrymate, Tushar Shahani of Penn.
Sareen is coming off a first-round loss in last year's championships in the Molloy Cup South bracket. Despite the loss, he was crowned the consolation bracket champion after defeating Trinity's Will Curtis in three games in the championship game. Sareen dropped just two points in the match to Curtis, 11-1, 11-1, 11-0.
Coming off an 10-7 record, Sareen spent time mostly at the No. 3 position for the Big Red, but also made one appearance at the No. 2 spot.
