ITHACA, N.Y. – Cornell hosts the Wildcats of The University of Kentucky for the final game this season at the Oxley Equestrian Center on Saturday, March 25 at 6:00 p.m.
The Big Red is coming off a nail bitter last week against Yale that saw
Lara Chong edge out the win for Cornell in a shootout, ending the game 15-14. Once again, Lea Jih-Viera led the team in scoring, securing 10 of the teams 15 goals. Five of those goals came in the fourth chukker which, combined with an iron-clad defense that prevented Yale from scoring, resulted in a tie game at 14 each at the end of regulation. While Yale outscored Cornell 12-5 in the first two chukkers, Cornell put on a strong front the second half, outscoring the Bulldogs 9-2. The Big Red is going to be riding that momentum coming into this weekend.
Cornell comes into its final regular season game against the Wildcats looking to end it's two game losing streak, with the last win coming in February 2020. The all-time record between the two teams sits in Cornell's favor, 12-6. At Oxley, the record is even better with Cornell beating out Kentucky 10 times and losing only twice. This weekend marks the 19th time these two teams have faced off since 2008.
A win over Kentucky would allow the Big Red Women's Polo team to finish 9-5 on the season with a home record of 6-3.
