ITHACA, N.Y. — The No. 40-ranked Cornell men's tennis team will travel to No. 13-ranked Columbia to close out the spring portion of its regular season slate on Saturday afternoon.
Doubles action at the Philip and Cheryl Milstein Family Tennis Center is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
Cornell is coming off a weekend sweep of Brown and Yale at the Reis Tennis Center last weekend. The Big Red defeated Brown, 4-2, before cruising past Yale, 6-1.
Sophomore
Radu Papoe continues to be ranked in the top 125 of singles, coming in ranked at No. 75. Papoe only played against Yale last weekend, posting a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Theo Dean, to increase his win streak to nine matches.
Fellow sophomore
Adit Sinha and freshman
Petar Teodorovic each have three-match win streaks heading into this weekend's regular season finale.
Scouting Columbia
Columbia comes into the contest with an impressive 18-3 overall record and a 5-1 mark in Ivy League play. The Lions have won its last two matches and are undefeated at home this season (6-0).
Michael Zheng (No. 33) and Max Westphal (No. 111) are the lone two Lions ranked in the recent update to the ITA singles rankings, which were released on Tuesday.
Westphal and his doubles partner, Theo Winegar, are ranked No. 44 in doubles heading into this weekend's match.
Cornell is looking to win its second straight match against Columbia as the Big Red posted a 4-2 victory over the Lions last year in Ithaca. The victory snapped Cornell's nine-match losing streak to its fellow Empire State-based Ivy Leauge foe.
Papoe and Sinha were the lone active players to post victories for the Big Red in last year's upset victory over Columbia, who was ranked No. 24 at the time of the match.
