Back In The Rankings
Cornell began the season ranked 20th in the nation, but dropped out of the polls when it had no competition during the first week of the season. Since opening up the year, the Big Red have matched up with two top-25 opponents on the road in No.-12 Vermont and No.-21 New Hampshire. The Cornellians fell to the Catamounts in a tightly contested battle, 1-0. In the next game against the Wildcats, Cornell earned a hard fought victory on the back of Ryan Friedbergs career day in the net. In the most recent meeting on the pitch, at Canisius, The Big Red took care of business, rattling off four unanswered goals to take the game, 4-2. The United Soccer Coaches poll has the Big Red back in the rankings at 25th, along with Top Drawer Soccer having them at 16th.

The Last Time Out
The Big Red and Retrievers will be meeting for the first time in school history. Cornell enters the matchup with a 2-1-0 record, with victories over New Hampshire and, most recently, Canisius. UMBC comes in at 3-1-1, after losing a midweek a game to Hofstra. Before the set back, they were riding a two-game shutout streak in wins against Liberty and Howard, respectively. The American East representatives are 1-0 all-time against Ivy League opponents, with them taking a 2-1 victory against Princeton in 2010.

Players To Watch
Alex Harris (Cornell) - Harris was named to the Ivy League honor roll list, after a five point performance in the 4-2 victory against Canisius. Alex netted his first collegiate goal, which was followed by another to give him two goals in the game. He would follow up with the first assist of his career, on the third goal that stretched the Big Red's lead to three. The first-year forward currently leads the team in goals, points, shots, and shots on net.

Kisa Kiingi (Cornell) - Kiingi was recognized as a part of the College Soccer News Men's National Team of The Week for his performances against New Hampshire and Canisius. He was the culprit of the goal that Cornell needed to top New Hampshire 1-0 on the road, and solidified a Big Red defense that was anchored in goal by Ryan Friedberg who had a seven save evening. Kiingi also contributed a helper on one of Harris' two goals in the win over Canisius.

Taylor Calheira (UMBC) - Calheira currently leads the Retrievers in points (nine), goals (four), and shots on goal (10). The senior forward registered his second career hat-trick in the Retrievers' 4-2 season opener victory against George Mason.

Alek Wroblewski (UMBC) - Wrobelewski is second on the team in goals (two), points (four), and shots on goal (five).
