CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- It was another strong showing for the Cornell men's tennis team on Saturday, as they battled with the University of South Florida on day two of Chowderfest hosted by Harvard.
The Big Red battled back and forth with the Bulls in singles.
Felipe Pinzon matched up with USF senior Erik Grevelius to open the day. The freshman pushed Grevelius but ultimately fell in straight sets (4-6, 5-7). Senior
Bradley Paliska picked up his first singles win of the fall by defeating Bruno Oliveria (6-2, 6-2).
Samuel Paquette was third to go for the Big Red, falling to junior Tom Pavlekovich-Smith (4-6, 3-6). Sophomore
Aman Sharma picked up his third win of the fall season by downing Tom Pisane in straight sets (6-4, 6-3), and
Muhammad Dossani rounded out singles with a three-set victory over Agustin Cuellar (1-6, 6-4, 6-0).
On the doubles side, the Big Red went 1-2 on the morning. Pinzon and Paquette squared off against Grevelius and Alvin Tudorica, falling 4-6, while Paliska and Mao lost their first match as a pair this season in a battle with Pavlekovich-Smith and Oliveria in a tiebreaker (6-7, 4-0). But the tandem of Sharma and Dossani closed out the doubles side with a 6-4 victory over Cuellar and Pisane.Â
The Big Red are now 6-4 in singles and 2-4 in doubles as a team on the weekend. Cornell closes out its trip to Chowderfest on Sunday against the University of San Diego. Play will begin at 9:00 a.m.
