1/11/2024 2:48:00 PM

ITHACA, N.Y. -- The No. 9 Cornell women's squash team opens the 2024 portion of its schedule with a pair of matchups against top-10 opponents this weekend. The Big Red host No. 8 Drexel on Saturday, Jan. 13, at 11 a.m. at the Belkin Squash Courts before facing No. 5 Stanford at noon Sunday in Hartford, Connecticut.

The Big Red (5-0) dominated in its first five contests this season, winning 9-0 twice and 8-1 three times. Wen Li Lai, Aishwarya Khubchandani, Alysa Ali, Christa Kay, Saniya Jaggi, Ania LaDow and Maya Voloshin each won their first five matches.

Saturday's contest will mark the 10th meeting between Cornell and Drexel, which enters the matchup 3-3 on the season. The Big Red owns a 5-4 lead in the series, but the Dragons have won four in a row. Cornell's last victory came in 2018.

Cornell and Stanford have met 22 times, and the Big Red leads the series 12-10. The Cardinal, 1-2 so far this season, had won seven in a row in the series until Cornell took last year's contest, 5-2.

The Big Red faces Penn next Friday, Jan. 19, at 1:30 p.m. in Philadelphia.
