Lesiewicz Named Ivy Football Rookie of the Week

10/28/2024 12:00:00 PM

PRINCETON, N.J. -- Freshman Caden Lesiewicz became the first Big Red football player to be named the Ivy League's Rookie of the Week since Jameson Wang earned the honors in the 2021 season following a perfect passing game against Colgate including a passing touchdown, along with 84 yards on the ground for a score.

Lesiewicz earned the honor following a memorable effort in his second collegiate start, averaging 52.4 yards on five punts with four going at least 50 yards, including a 68-yarder, and two downed inside the 20. His 52.40 yards per punt is the second-highest average in school history (minimum five punts), just shy of four-time first-team All-Ivy selection Chris Fraser's 52.43 yards on seven punts against Harvard in 2015. His four punts of 50 or more yards in a game tied Fraser's school record from the same game.

Lesiewicz and the rest of the Big Red are back in action this week at Princeton, taking on the Tigers at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+.
