HOPKINTON, N.H. - The Cornell women's cross country team earned a 13th-place finish at the NCAA Northeast Regionals.
Augustine Haquet (15th - 20:19.89) and
Mairead Clas (50th - 21:02.52) were the top Big Red pacers on the day, both running inside of the top-50.
Mike Henderson, the Alan B. '53 and Elizabeth Heekin Harris Head Coach of Cross Country, touched on how close of a battle it was between the Ivies, and that Cornell had missed its marked in regard to finishing in the top-10 regionally. "It was a tight battle with a lot of the league schools around each other fighting for a top 10 finish. We fought hard but couldn't crack that top 10 like we had hoped", Henderson mentioned
Haquet has been the Big Red's top runner all season, and did not disappoint when it came to her effort at regionals. She earned All-Region honors for the first time in her career. "Augustine was all region for the first time in her career. It was a big jump from her placing last year, and is definitely something to be proud of. We will regroup and then turn our attention to Heps in Barton in March," Henderson concluded with.
