ITHACA, N.Y. — The No. 9-ranked Cornell men's squash team (1-0) cruised to a 9-0 victory over Western (0-1) at the Belkin Squash Courts to open the 2024-25 season on Friday night.
Freshman
Youssef Sarhan began his collegiate squash career with a three-game sweep over Josh Kay, 11-6, 11-3, 11-2, at the No. 4 position. Seniors
Tanay Punjabi (No. 5),
Rohan Iyer (No. 6), and
Shreemann Raghavan (No. 7) also won their respective matches in three games.
Senior
Arnaav Sareen (No. 2), sophomores
Syan Singh (No. 3) and
Arnav Tevatia (No. 9) claimed their matches in four games. Singh's victory extended his win streak to eight matches, dating back to last season.
Fellow senior
Aaron Liang (No. 1) and freshman
Roman Bicknell (No. 8) claimed their matches in five games. Both Liang and Bicknell avenged 2-1 deficits and claimed the final two games. Liang dropped just seven points over the final two games, 11-2, 11-5.
