ITHACA, N.Y. — The No. 9-ranked Cornell men's squash program will return to action this weekend when it travels to Massachusetts to face No. 10-ranked Tufts and No. 19-ranked Amherst.
Cornell (2-0) will first face Tufts (2-3) on Saturday, Dec. 7, at the Tufts Squash Center in Medford, Mass., with first matches beginning at 1 p.m. Before returning to Ithaca, the Big Red will square off against Amherst (4-0) at the Davenport Squash Center in Amherst, Mass. First matches will begin at noon. Both contests can be streamed live on PlaySight.com.
After being idle last weekend, the Big Red will look to improve upon its 17-2 record in individual matches after logging a pair of home victories over Western (9-0 on Nov. 22) and Williams (7-2 on Nov. 24).

SCOUTING TUFTS
Tufts enters Saturday's match with a 2-3 overall record. The Jumbos are coming off a 6-3 victory over the University of Rochester on Nov. 23 in a neutral site match at the SL Green Squash Center in New York City, which snapped Tufts' three-match losing streak. All three losses for Tufts came against top 10 competition in No. 4-ranked Trinity, No. 5-ranked Harvard, and No. 8-ranked Columbia.
Sophomore Emerson Wang paces the trio of Jumbos players with three wins on the season, compiling a 3-0 record in matches played between the No. 7 and No. 9 positions. Wang has won each of his last four matches, dating back to last season. Freshman Santiago Medina and junior Shivin Kumar are the other Jumbos players with three wins on the year, both having 3-2 records.
SERIES HISTORY WITH TUFTS
Saturday will be the 11th all-time meeting between Cornell and Tufts in men's squash, and will be the first time the Big Red will play the Jumbos on their home court since posting a 9-0 victory on Dec. 6, 1997.
The Big Red sports a 9-1 all-time record against the Jumbos, which features Cornell winning the last nine matches against Tufts. During its nine-game win streak over Tufts, Cornell has won at least seven games in each match. Tufts' lone victory over Cornell came in the inaugural meeting between the two programs on Jan. 24, 1981, in Medford, Mass., where the Jumbos posted a 8-1 triumph.
Last year, Cornell and Tufts met for the first time since the 2009-10 season, where the Big Red prevailed in a clean sweep.

SCOUTING AMHERST
Amherst enters this weekend with a 4-0 overall record, the Mammoths' best start to a season since also going 4-0 to begin the 2017-18 season.
The Mammoths will seek to extend its season-opening win streak to five on Friday, Dec. 6, when it faces No. 12-ranked Dartmouth in Hanover, N.H.
Across Amherst's four victories this season, the Mammoths have a combined 28-8 record in individual matches highlighted by 4-0 records from junior Grady Herbert, sophomore Joseph Toth, and freshman Flynn Venmore. Senior Matthew Granovsky is also undefeated on the year, having a 3-0 record.
SERIES HISTORY WITH AMHERST
Cornell and Amherst will be meeting for the 21st time on Sunday. The Big Red owns the series lead, 13-7, highlighted by winning the last four matches and 10 of the previous 11 against the Mammoths.
Amherst will be seeking its first home victory over Cornell since defeating the Big Red, 9-0, on Jan. 16, 1999, as Cornell has won the last five matches played on Amherst's home court.
Each of the last three meetings between the programs have resulted in 9-0 victories for the Big Red. Last season, Liang, Sareen, Singh, Iyer, Shreeman Raghavan, and Punjabi posted three-game victories.
