#9 Men's Squash Improves to 4-0 Behind Clean Sweep of #19 Amherst

AMHERST, Mass. — The No. 9-ranked Cornell men's squash team improved to 4-0 after registering a clean sweep of No. 19-ranked Amherst (4-2) at the Davenport Squash Courts on Sunday afternoon.

The victory for Cornell, who is now sporting a 33-3 record in individual matches this season, marked the third consecutive year that it has opened a campaign with four victories.

Cornell's top seven matches all resulted in three-game victories with seniors Aaron Liang (No. 1), Arnaav Sareen (No. 2), Tanay Punjabi (No. 5), Rohan Iyer (No. 6), and Shreeman Raghavan (No. 7), sophomore Syan Singh (No. 3), and freshman Youssef Sarhan (No. 4) cruising to their victories.

Freshman Roman Bicknell (No. 8) and sophomore Arnav Tevatia (No. 9) both registered four-game victories after falling in the first game by respective 11-5 and 11-8 scores. Bicknell prevailed behind 12-10, 11-5, and 11-7 victories while Tevatia won all three of his matches by 11-4 scores.

Cornell will return to the court on Saturday, Jan. 11, when it opens Ivy League play against No. 12-ranked Dartmouth (2-2, 0-1 Ivy League) at the Belkin Squash Courts. Match action is scheduled to begin at noon, and will be streamed live on Stretch Internet.
