ITHACA, N.Y. — The No. 8 Cornell women's squash team begins postseason competition in Philadelphia when it faces Ivy League rival No. 9 Columbia on Thursday, Feb. 29, at 3 p.m. in the CSA National Championships. The Big Red will be playing in the Howe Cup bracket, which features teams seeded 1-8.
The Big Red finished the regular season 7-8 and 1-5 in Ivy League play. It started the season 6-0 but lost eight of nine contests leading up to the postseason. Columbia beat the Big Red 6-3 on Feb. 11 in New York City.
Wen Li Lai, who earned a spot on the All-Ivy Women's Squash Team, won 10 matches in the No. 1 spot in Cornell's lineup during the regular season. Saniya Jaggi led the Big Red with 11 wins in the No. 9 spot.
Columbia leads the all-time series 9-8 and has won the last two meetings. The Big Red's last victory over the Lions came in February 2023 in Philadelphia.
Last season, Cornell went 0-3 at the CSA National Championships. It won the Kurtz Cup Crown the 'B' division of the national championships for teams tabbed ninth- through 16th in the CSA's rankings — in 2022.
