Men's Squash Bests Western, Advances to Finals

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- No. 7-seeded Cornell got back into the win column with a 7-2 win over No. 11-seeded Western in the quarterfinals of the first consolation bracket of the Potter Cup on Friday afternoon at the Arlen Specter US Squash Center. With the win, Cornell improved to 10-7 while Western improved to 6-6.

In the contest, Veer Chotrani kept his perfect record this season with a win in the No. 1 match, and Spencer Yager, Shreemann Raghavan, Tanay Punjabi, Arnav Tevatia also posted three-game sweeps in the No. 4, 6, 8, and 9 matches.

No. 1 Match: Veer Chotrani def. Salaheldin Eltorgman, 11-3, 11-8, 11-0.

No. 2 Match: Dylan Deverill def. Arnaav Sareen, 3-11, 9-11, 11-8, 11-3, 11-7.

No. 3 Match: Syan Singh def. Antonio Mendes, 11-9, 5-11, 11-6, 11-2.

No. 4 Match: Spencer Yager def. Daniel Deverill 11-8, 11-7, 11-6.

No. 5 Match: Rohan Iyer def. Amin Khan, 11-4, 9-11, 11-9, 11-9.

No. 6 Match: Shreemann Raghavan def. Griffin Manley, 11-5, 11-8, 11-5.

No. 7 Match: Ben Boulanger def. Morgan Huberman, 11-6, 11-6, 11-7.

No. 8 Match: Tanay Punjabi def. Josh Kay, 11-3, 11-5, 11-6.

No. 9 Match: Arnav Tevatia def. Rio Schafer, 11-5, 11-9, 11-4.
 

Looking Ahead

The Big Red moves on to face Dartmouth in the first consolation bracket in the battle for fifth place. The match will go down on Saturday, March 2 at 11 a.m. at the Alren Specter US Squash Center.
