Big Red Swim/Dive Closes Competition at Diving Zones

PRINCETON, N.J. -- All four of Cornell's entries hitting the diving board for day two of the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships from DeNunzio Pool, competing in the men's 1-meter and women's 3-meter diving qualifiers.

Beginning with the 1-meter side, Soodong Kim and Matthew Warren represented the red and white. Kim improved his 1-meter score (249.40) from his debut appearance in zones last year in West Virginia, finishing 28th in the qualifying diving round with 272.80. The junior's best dive came on his fifth attempt, grabbing a score of 54.60 on his second forward 2.5 somersault pike. Warren closed out the men's entries for the Big Red with his 48th-place showing (237.75), scoring his best dive score of 53.30 on his lone forward 2.5 somersault pike attempt.

Shifting over to the women's 3-meter dive, freshmen Morgan Ogata and Brooke Andrews hit the deck for the Big Red. Ogata took the higher spot of the two with her 39th-place finish in the preliminary round with a 237.79. The San Gabriel, California product had four dive scores of 40.00 or higher, with her best one coming on a reverse 2.5 somersault tuck (47.60). Andrews finished five spots behind her teammate in 44th with a score of 233.70. Her final four attempts scored higher than 40.00, including an event-high 46.80 on her third attempt with a forward 2.5 somersault pike.

The 2024 NCAA Zone A Diving Championships will end on Wednesday with the women's (11 a.m.) and men's (noon) platform diving events.
