ITHACA, N.Y. — Cornell assistant softball coach Tara Tembey will once again lead the Great Britain U18 National Fastpitch Team when it competes in the U-18 Women's Softball World Cup Group A in Sao Paulo, Brazil, July 23-27.

Great Britain will face Chinese Taipei, Czechia, Brazil and a team that hasn't yet qualified for the tournament. The top two teams in each group — 12 other teams are in groups B and C — will clinch spots in the 2025 U-18 Women's World Cup Finals.

"I'm thrilled to lead this wonderful group of athletes to the World Cup in Brazil," Tembey, who's coached the Great Britain U-18 Team since 2019, said. "This team earned the opportunity to compete at the World Cup after an outstanding performance in 2023 at the European Championships. I could not be prouder and more excited to share the field with them again in Brazil this summer."

Tembey recently added Cornell senior Lilly Travieso, a two-time All-Ivy League selection, to her staff. Travieso played in 95 games and made 93 starts for the Big Red from 2022-24, batting .284 with 26 RBI. She had a career .943 fielding percentage while mostly playing third base. Travieso competed internationally last summer when she played for the Guaynabo Mets, part of the Federation of Softball in Puerto Rico.

"In addition to phenomenal athletes on roster, we have a solid staff including Cornell's Lilly Travieso," Tembey said. "With a wealth of character and leadership experience, she will be an inspiration to our team. Having competed on the international stage herself, Lilly knows the standards for success making her an invaluable asset to our journey ahead."
