PRINCETON, N.J. — Cornell men's heavyweight rowing alum Michael Grady '19 and Cornell men's lightweight rowing alum Sorin Koszyk '20 were both officially nominated to represent the United States at the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris, France, it was announced by USRowing on Monday afternoon.

Rowing at the Paris Olympics will begin on July 27 and conclude August 4, where the United States has qualified an American record 12 crews for this year's Olympics, tying Romania for the most entries by a single country for this year's Olympic Games.

The Americans will send crews in the women's single sculls, men's single sculls, women's double sculls, men's double sculls, lightweight women's double sculls, women's quadruple sculls, women's pair, men's pair, women's four, men's four, women's eight and men's eight.

Of the 42 American athletes who will be competing in Paris, 17 are returning Olympians with a combined three Olympic medals. Thirty-eight have competed on previous senior national teams, while four will be making their senior team debuts

Grady will be racing in the U.S. men's four for the second consecutive Olympics, having competed in the event at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, which were held in a year later than anticipated due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The American crew placed fifth out of six in the 'A' Final, posting a time of 5:48.85.

Joining Grady in the men's four will be Liam Corrigan in the stroke seat, Justin Best at No. 2, and Nick Mead in the bow. It will be Grady's fourth consecutive year representing the United States on the world stage as he has rowed on the American senior team at the 2020 Olympics and at the 2022 and 2023 World Rowing Championships in Račice, Czechia and Belgrade, Serbia, respectively.

Koszyk, who will be rowing with Ben Davison in the men's double sculls, will be making his Olympics debut next month after representing the United States at the past two year's World Championships.

This will be the 10th time and third consecutive Olympics on record that will feature multiple former Cornell rowers at the same Olympics. In the most recent Olympics in Tokyo in 2020, Grady was joined by former women's rower Tracy Eisser '11, who participated in the women's pair. In 2016 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Eisser and Alexander Karwoski '12 (men's eight) represented the United States.
