PARIS, France -- On a wet and rainy course, Taylor Knibb '20 overcame three falls to finish 19th overall at the Road Cycling Time Trial on Saturday afternoon. Knibb, the only U.S. Olympian to qualify for the Olympics in multiple sports, will rest up for the women's triathlon on Wednesday, July 31.

At the first intermediate time check, Knibb had the fastest time of the first nine riders on the course, but eventually finished in the middle of the pack among the 35 world-class riders that started. She completed the 32.4km time trial in 43:03.43, averaging better than 45km per hour. Despite mechanical problems that caused the need for a new bike in the second half of the race, Knibb learned a great deal from her first international time trial.

Teammate Chloe Dygert, the defending world champion from the United States, claimed the bronze after suffering a fall of her own during the race. Australia's Grace Brown (39:38.24) and Great Britain's Anna Henderson (41:09.83) finished atop the podium.
