Swanstrom Names Hatcher, Reeder Co-Offensive Coordinators

9/3/2024 1:00:00 PM

ITHACA, N.Y. — Current Cornell football assistant coaches Mike Hatcher and Sean Reeder have been named co-offensive coordinators, it was announced by Dan Swanstrom, the Roger J. Weiss '61 Head Coach of Cornell Football, on Tuesday afternoon.

Hatcher (wide receivers) and Reeder (offensive line) will continue to oversee their respective position groups while helping organize the Big Red's offense for the upcoming 2024 campaign.

"Promoting Mike and Sean as our co-offensive coordinators was an easy decision," Swanstrom stated. "Both bring a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of our offensive system, having been integral parts of its development over the years. Their leadership, innovation, and commitment to our program make them the perfect fit to lead our offense."

Hatcher and Reeder have both coached alongside Swanstrom at prior institutions. With Hatcher, the pair coached on South Hill from 2020-21, guiding Ithaca College to a combined 32-11 record and winning at least eight games in all four seasons in which the Bombers played. The duo aided Ithaca to a Liberty League title (2021), the third of Swanstrom's tenure at IC.

Swanstrom and Reeder crossed paths at Ithaca College and Ivy League foe Penn. Last year, the pair took Penn's offense from the bottom three in the league to the top of the Ancient Eight, leading the conference in total yards (4,013). The upcoming 2024 season will be Reeder's second as an offensive coordinator, as he assumed offensive coordinator duties at Ithaca for the 2022 campaign. Under Reeder's direction, Ithaca's offense averaged 30.6 points and 415.2 yards per game while posting an 8-2 overall record and 5-1 mark in Liberty League contests.

Cornell will open the 2024 season on Saturday, Sept. 21, when it travels to Hamilton, N.Y., to face Central New York rival Colgate. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m., and the game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
