Sareen, Raghavan, Sarhan Lead #9 Men's Squash to Victory Over #12 Dartmouth

ITHACA, N.Y. — Seniors Arnaav Sareen and Shreemann Raghavan and freshman Youssef Sarhan posted three-game victories, improving to 5-0 on the season as to aid the No. 9-ranked Cornell men's squash team (5-0, 1-0 Ivy League) to a 6-3 victory over No. 11-ranked Dartmouth (2-3, 0-2 Ivy League) inside the Belkin Squash Courts on Saturday afternoon.

Cornell is off to its third consecutive 5-0 start after it went 7-0 to begin last season's slate and also went 5-0 to begin the 2022-23 campaign. Saturday's victory was also the Big Red's first time claiming its Ivy League opener since defeating Brown, 9-0, on Nov. 20, 2022.

The win was the Big Red's seventh consecutive victory over the Big Green, one shy of matching its program record that occurred from Jan. 24, 2009, to Feb. 2, 2014.

Sareen (No. 3), Sarhan (No. 4), and Raghavan (No. 7) were three of five Big Red players to register three-game victories on the day, joined by freshman Roman Bicknell (No. 8) and junior Jeh Pandole (No. 9), who both recorded their first career Ivy League victories.

Joining the Cornell quartet in earning victories on the day included senior Rohan Iyer, who defeated Brandon Wang in four games at the No. 6 position, to also improve to 5-0 on the year.

Seniors Aaron Liang (No. 1) and Tanay Punjabi (No. 5) both fell in five games after holding 2-1 leads heading into the fourth game.

Christian Shah, Dartmouth's No. 1 player on the Big Green ladder, recorded 11-8 and 11-7 victories in the final two games to hand Liang his first loss of the season. Callan Venkatesan needed extra points, 12-10 and 13-11, in the last two games against Punjabi, also dealing him his first defeat of the campaign.

UP NEXT
Cornell will return to the Belkin Squash Courts on Sunday, Jan. 12, when it hosts No. 6-ranked Harvard. First matches are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Match action will be broadcast free of charge on Stretch Internet.
