ITHACA, N.Y. — Five players registered three-game victories to pace the No. 8-ranked Cornell women's squash team (4-1, 1-0 Ivy League) to an 8-1 victory over No. 11-ranked Dartmouth (2-3, 0-2 Ivy League) inside the Belkin Squash Courts on Saturday afternoon.
Sophomores
Xin Ying Yee (No. 1), juniors
Aishwarya Khubchandani (No. 2),
Ananya Dabke (No. 3), and
Alysa Ali (No. 4), and freshman
Kahjin Yap (No. 9) all won in three games for the Big Red, who posted a victory in its Ivy League opener for the first time since defeating Brown, 9-0, on Nov. 20, 2022.
Yee improved to 5-0 on the year competing at the top position on the Big Red ladder, dropping just 14 points in her three-game victory. Ali, Khubchandani, and Yap all improved to 4-1 on the year with their straight-game victories.
Sophomore
Christa Kay avenged dropping the first game to Zayna Usman, 11-8, by registering three consecutive victories, 11-9, 11-8, 11-5, at the No. 5 position.
Freshman
Sabine Ball posted victories of 11-1 and 11-2 in the fourth and fifth games to come back from a 2-1 deficit against Kriti Muthu in the No. 7 match to improve to 5-0 on the year.
Sophomore
Saniya Jaggi posted consecutive 11-4 victories to cap her four-game victories over Nathalie Taylor at the No. 8 position.
Dartmouth's Maya Shroff came back from a 2-0 deficit to defeat
Maya Voloshin in the No. 6 match. Voloshin won the first two games by 11-7 scores, but Shroff was able to prevent the clean sweep by logging wins of 16-14 and a pair of 11-9 decisions.
