#9 Men's Squash Continues Road Trip This Weekend at #3 Princeton, #1 Penn

ITHACA, N.Y. — The No. 9-ranked Cornell men's squash team (5-2, 1-1 Ivy League) continues its three-match road trip this weekend, squaring off against No. 3-ranked Princeton (5-0, 1-0 Ivy League) and top-ranked Penn (11-0), the last two unbeaten programs in the College Squash Association (CSA).

Friday's contest with the Tigers is scheduled for a 2 p.m. start. Match action will be broadcast on Stretch Internet. Saturday's meeting with the Quakers is slated for a 1 p.m. start time.

LAST TIME OUT
Seniors Shreemann Raghavan and Arnaav Sareen each registered five-game victories as the No. 9-ranked Cornell men's squash team (5-2) dropped a 7-2 decision to No. 7-ranked Drexel (6-3) at the Kline & Specter Squash Center on Wednesday evening.

Raghavan outlasted Charlie Taylor in a decisive fifth game, 15-13, to register the victory at the No. 5 position, 9-11, 11-9, 11-6, 6-11, 15-13, improving to 7-0 on the season.

Sareen upped his mark to 6-1 with his triumph over Guido Lindner at the No. 2 position as the sides alternated victories throughout the match, 12-10, 4-11, 11-2, 5-11, 11-5.

Senior Aaron Liang (No. 1) and freshmen Youssef Sarhan (No. 3) and Roman Bicknell (No. 7) all fell in four games for the Big Red. Liang and Sarhan both won the first game of their matches before dropping the next three games.

SCOUTING PRINCETON
Princeton enters the weekend with a 5-0 overall record and winning its lone Ivy League match of the season against then-No. 2-ranked Yale, 5-4, this past Saturday.

Dating back to last season, Princeton has won its last seven regular-season contests.

The Tigers have posted a 38-7 overall record in individual matches, which ranks second in the CSA, only behind Penn (93-6). Princeton's 113-42 record in individual matches is the fewest losses by any program within CSA's jurisdiction.

Avi Agarwal, Hassan Khalil, Thomas Rosini, Federico Sosa, and Gordon Lam have all registered 5-0 records to begin the season. Andrew Glaser (4-0) and David Beeson (2-0) also have undefeated records.

SERIES HISTORY WITH PRINCETON
Princeton has a 54-5 lead in the all-time series and has won the last eight meetings against Cornell.

The Big Red will be seeking to snap its losing streak on Friday, handing the Tigers their first defeat to Cornell since dropping a 5-4 decision on Feb. 12, 2016, also in Princeton.

Last year, the Big Red fell to the Tigers, 7-2, at the Belkin Squash Courts on Jan. 21, 2024. Veer Chotrani (No. 1) and Spencer Yager (No. 4) posted victories in four games for the Big Red. Aaron Liang dropped a five-game match to Hollis Robertson at the No. 2 position.

SCOUTING PENN
Penn enters the weekend having won all 11 of its matches so far on the season, the most wins for any program in the CSA.

Dating back to last season, the Quakers have won its last 14 matches — highlighted by defeating Trinity, 7-1, in the Potter Cup finals to claim the program's first-ever CSA national championship.

The Quakers have a 93-6 record in individual matches, the fewest losses of any CSA program. Penn also has a 285-50 record in individual games.

Ten Quaker players enter the weekend with undefeated records, highlighted by Salman Khalil, Omar Hafez, and Nathan Tze Bing Kueh all having 9-0 marks. Varun Chitturi (8-0), Oliver Green (7-0), Hao Cui, Ben Mathias, Kyle Penman, and Rustin Wiser (6-0), and Jat Tse (5-0) also have not lost a match this season.

SERIES HISTORY WITH PENN
Penn owns a 46-21 advantage in the series with Cornell, dating back to the first meeting in 1957. The Quakers have won the last seven matches against the Big Red, five of which have featured Penn posting 9-0 triumphs.

Cornell is seeking for its first victory over Penn since edging the Quakers, 5-4, on Feb. 14, 2016, in Ithaca. The last time the Big Red won on the Quakers home court was on Feb. 10, 2013, when it prevailed by a 7-2 score.

In last year's meeting at the Belkin Squash Courts, Penn dealt Cornell its first loss of the season, 7-2. Chotrani (No. 1) and Tanay Punjabi (No. 9) posted the victories for the Big Red, winning in three and four games, respectively.
