Box Score TULSA, OK —- Cornell men's tennis swept the University of Tulsa 4-0 on Friday as they went 2-1 in doubles play and won three singles matches.
The night match began with the fight for the first point through doubles competition. Eric Verdes and Rushil Khosla defeated Alex Okonkwo and Carlsson Seger 7-6 and Adit Sinha and Nathan Mao defeated Will Pellegrini and Reiya Komagata 6-2. Radu Papoe and Rodrigo Fernandes fell 6-3 in their doubles match against Gus Tettamble and Luis Felipe Miguel. With two wins to one, the Big Red took the first point before heading into singles play.
Mao began singles competition for Cornell as he faced Connor Doig. Mao won in two straight sets 6-3 and 6-0 to put Cornell up 2-0. Next up was a match between Papoe and Okonkwo where Papoe earned Cornell its third point of the night with a 6-2, 6-4 victory. Felipe Pinzon was up next for the Big Red with a match against Tettamble. Pinzon won 6-2, 7-6(0) to give Cornell its 4-0 clean sweep victory over the University of Tulsa.
There were also three singles matches that went unfinished in the contest.
The Big Red are set to play again on Sunday, Jan. 19 as they head to the University of Oklahoma for its next dual match in the mid-west.
