CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- Virginia scored the lone two goals of the first chukker and that made all the difference as the Cavaliers picked up a narrow 8-6 victory over the Cornell women's polo team on Friday evening in the semifinals of the UVa Fall Invitational. The Big Red dropped to 1-1 on the season and will face both Kentucky and Texas A&M in two-chukker consolation matches on Sunday at 11 a.m. at the Virginia Polo Center.
Lara Chong scored three goals, 
Naomi Marlough had two and 
Samantha Iahn netted one as the Big Red gave the Cavs all they could handle in their own tournament. The Big Red trailed just 3-2 at halftime and was down 6-4 after three, but could never equalize to drop into the consolation game.
Kelsey Bray scored six goals to lead UVa.
