#10 Men's Squash Caps Weekend Sweep with Dominant Win Over #12 Williams

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The No. 10-ranked Cornell men's squash team secured a convincing 7-2 victory over No. 12 Williams on Sunday afternoon at the Simon Squash Center. The win improved Cornell to 2-0 on the season, marking the fourth consecutive year the Big Red have opened with two straight victories.

Sophomore Youssef Sarhan led the way at No. 1 with a four-game win over Nick Agger, 11-4, 7-11, 13-11, 11-6. Junior Syan Singh bounced back from an opening-game loss at No. 2 to defeat Himanshu Pannu in four, while freshman Aly Ezzat swept Asher Leavy in straight games at the third position.

The Big Red displayed tremendous fight in the middle of the order, with freshmen Edward Thng and Daniel King, and senior Jeh Pandole all rallying from deficits to claim hard-fought wins. Thng dropped the first game before winning three straight at No. 5, while King delivered the most dramatic comeback of the day at No. 6, recovering from a 2-1 deficit to win in five games over Leighton Calhoun. Pandole also battled back at No. 8, edging Rafay Syed 14-12 in a thrilling fourth game. Sophomore Vivaan Shah added another victory with a straight-game win at No. 9 over Anden Boulan.

Williams earned points at No. 4, where Alex Akbari defeated junior Arnav Tevatia, and at No. 7, where Causey Green topped sophomore Roman Bicknell.

UP NEXT
Cornell will host No. 2-ranked Trinity (2-0) in its home opener on Wednesday, Nov. 19, at 3 p.m. at the Belkin Squash Courts. Matches will be streamed live on Stretch Internet.

The Big Red will look to snap a 26-match losing streak against the Bantams, with Cornell's last win coming on Feb. 9, 1991, in Hanover, N.H. The Big Red is 4-32 all-time against Trinity, including 0-9 in home matches. Trinity won last year's meeting, 8-1, in Hartford, Conn.
