Polo Hosts Bill Field Invitational Beginning on Thursday

| By:
ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell polo teams will host the annual William S. Field Invitational Tournament this week. The signature home event of the fall will involve a number of the top college programs in the country.

The tournament will open on Thursday, Nov. 20 with the women playing semifinal contests - Virginia will meet Colorado State at 5 p.m., followed by the Big Red against Kentucky at 7 p.m. The consolation game will be played on Saturday, Nov. 22 at 2 p.m. with the winners of the semifinal contests meeting in the finals at 4 p.m. that day.

The men kick off the schedule on Friday, Nov. 21 at 5 p.m. with a matchup between Virginia and Kentucky, followed by an intrasquad matchup between Cornell Red and White teams. The winner of those contests will meet in the finals on Sunday, Nov. 23 at 12 p.m., with the consolation game happening at 10 a.m.

The men sport a perfect 7-0 record entering the tournament and own a victory over UVa (10-9) in the finals of the UVa Fall Invitational in October. The Big Red last played Kentucky in last season's USPA D2 national title game, with the Wildcats preventing Cornell's repeat with a 17-13 triumph.

The women, entering the week with a 5-2 mark, split matches with Virginia (8-6 defeat) and Kentucky (6-1 win) earlier this fall at the UVa Fall Invitational and has not faced Colorado State since the fall of 2021 when the Big Red earned a 22-2 victory.
