ITHACA, N.Y. — Cornell senior Christian Hansen has been named the Ivy League Wrestler of the Week, marking the program's second weekly honor this season after freshman Jaxon Joy earned the award two weeks ago.

Hansen secured the recognition following a gritty, statement win over No. 4–ranked Zach Ryder of Oklahoma State at the National Duals Invitational in Tulsa, Okla., on Saturday, Nov. 15. Hansen battled to a 4-2 decision in a physical matchup that briefly halted when his head split open during a clash with Ryder. After receiving a quick bandage, Hansen returned to the mat with focus and toughness, finishing the bout with a top-tier victory over a nationally ranked opponent.

"Christian showed a ton of grit," said Mike Grey, The David Dunlop '59 Head Coach of Wrestling. "He dealt with a lot of adversity but persevered and found a way to get a big win."

Hansen and the Big Red return to action next at the Big Red Invitational on Sunday, Nov. 23.
