ITHACA, N.Y. — No. 2-ranked Trinity handed the No. 10-ranked Cornell men's squash team its first loss of the season with a 9-0 sweep in the Big Red's home opener at the Belkin Squash Courts on Wednesday afternoon.

Roman Bicknell, who were the lone Big Red players to push their opponents beyond three games. Thng engaged in the match's most competitive battle at No. 4, taking a 2-1 lead over Trinity's Huzaifa Ibrahim, who responded with 11-6 and 11-5 victories in the fourth and fifth games to claim the victory, 11-5, 4-11, 6-11, 11-6, 11-5. Bicknell claimed the opening game against Daniel Simon at No. 7 before dropping the next three, 8-11, 11-4, 11-5, 11-5.
Seven of the Bantams' nine victories came in straight-game sweeps.

Cornell continues its three-match homestand this weekend, welcoming No. 18 Western (2-2) on Friday, Nov. 21, at 6:30 p.m., and No. 11 Tufts (0-2) on Sunday, Nov. 23, at noon. Both days of action will be streamed live for free on Stretch Internet.
Western brings a split record into Friday's match after recent victories over No. 19 Rochester (5-4) and No. 13 MIT (8-1). The Mustangs struggled last weekend in St. Catharines, Ontario, however, falling 9-0 to No. 3 Harvard and 8-1 to No. 6 Princeton.
Tufts will conclude a three-match New York swing with Sunday's visit to Belkin Squash Courts, having faced Hamilton College on Friday and Western on Saturday. The Jumbos are searching for their first win after dropping an 8-1 decision to No. 7 Columbia and a 9-0 sweep to No. 2 Trinity last weekend.
