ITHACA, N.Y. — The No. 10-ranked Cornell men's squash team secured a 6-3 victory over No. 11 Tufts on Sunday afternoon at the Belkin Squash Courts, overcoming losses at the middle positions with strong performances at the top and bottom of the ladder.
The Big Red swept the top four positions, with junior
Syan Singh leading the charge at No. 1 with a straight-game victory over Santiago Medina (11-8, 11-9, 11-5). Sophomore
Youssef Sarhan followed suit at No. 2, edging Nachiket Desai in three tight games (13-11, 13-11, 11-7). Freshmen
Aly Ezzat and
Edward Thng secured four-game wins at the No. 3 and No. 4 spots, respectively.
Tufts posted victories in the middle of the lineup, with Jared Chin, Mustafa Ayaz, and Aarav Gill each claiming five-game victories at No. 5, No. 6, and No. 7.
Senior
Jeh Pandole battled through five games at No. 8, overcoming Ilya Kipkalov (8-11, 11-3, 11-9, 6-11, 11-8), while
Vivaan Shah delivered a decisive straight-game performance at No. 9, defeating Shivin Kumar (11-4, 11-6, 11-5).
