Sahakian Named Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week

| By:
PRINCETON, N.J. – Cornell senior linebacker Ben Sahakian has been named Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday afternoon.

The senior recorded two forced fumbles in Cornell's comeback win over Princeton last Saturday, one of which set up the Big Red's game-winning touchdown drive. He finished the game with five tackles, two of which went for a loss of yards, and one sack.

Sahakian became the first Cornell player to force two fumbles in the same game since Michael Turner '15 had a pair against Brown on Oct. 26, 2013.

Sahakian is the third consecutive Big Red player to earn weekly honors, joining Keith Williams Jr. (Defensive), and Ryan Matulevich (Rookie).

On the season, the Mount Prospect, Ill., native has 22 tackles, including four tackles for a loss, and one sack.

Cornell returns to the gridiron on Saturday, Nov. 8 when it takes on Penn in Philadelphia, Pa., at 1 p.m. on ESPN+.
