ITHACA, N.Y. — Senior Mairead Clas has been named to the First Team All-Ivy following her top-10 finish at the Ivy League Heptagonal Cross Country Championships, while also earning Academic All-Ivy recognition for her excellence both on the course and in the classroom.
Clas placed seventh overall at Heps with a time of 21:17.7, improving on her 12th-place finish from the previous year. Her performance anchored the Big Red at the championship meet and capped off another standout season for the senior leader.
This fall, Clas opened the season with a first-place finish at the CU Opener on Cornell's home course, clocking 18:29.7. She went on to place 46th at the Paul Short Invitational (20:47.8) and 22nd at the Princeton Fall Classic (20:38.4), building consistent momentum heading into championship competition.
Over her Cornell career, Clas has been a reliable contributor for the Big Red, earning top finishes across major meets including the Paul Short Invitational, the Harry F. Anderson Invitational, and the NCAA Northeast Regional. In 2024, she placed second at the Harry F. Anderson Invitational (17:24.7) and finished 50th at the Northeast Regional (21:02.5).
A team captain and veteran presence, Clas has steadily progressed through her collegiate career since joining the program in 2022.
Prior to Cornell, Clas was a decorated distance runner at Darien High School (Conn.), where she was a three-time All-County (FCIAC) First Team and two-time All-State honoree. She served as team captain and was named Darien's MVP in both cross country and indoor track.
Mairead Grace Clas is the daughter of Brian Clas and Margaret Morrow and has one sister. Her father, Brian, also ran track and cross country for Cornell, holding multiple program records during his career. Mairead is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
Clas and the Big Red will return to action at the NCAA Northeast Regional Championships on Saturday, Nov. 15, 2025.
