Kurtz Earns All-America Honors from FCS Football Central

| By:

ITHACA, N.Y. – Cornell football junior tight end Ryder Kurtz was named to the FCS Football Central All-American Third Team, the organization announced on Monday. The fourth-annual FCS Football Central All-American Teams honors the best players across FCS football, featuring nearly 130 student-athletes from 59 different schools and all 13 conferences.

Kurtz, a second team All-Ivy selection, hauled in 44 receptions for 523 yards and four touchdowns in 10 games, averaging 11.9 yards per catch and 52.3 yards per game, the most among Ivy League tight ends. His four touchdown receptions ranked ninth in the conference and included scoring catches against UAlbany, Yale, Bucknell and Princeton. Kurtz also recorded a season-high nine receptions at Dartmouth. His receptions and receiving yards are single-season records for a Big Red tight end.

The junior became the first Cornell tight end to lead the team in both receptions and receiving yards since Dan Suren (26 receptions, 287 yards) in 1982. Kurtz is now the program's all-time leader in touchdowns and receiving yards by a tight end.

Last season, Kurtz earned All-America Honorable Mention honors from the AP.

Yale led the Ivy League with five selections, while Dartmouth and Penn each had two players earn All-America status and Harvard had one.
