Kurtz Named AP All-America Honorable Mention

| By:

ITHACA, N.Y. – For the second-straight season, Cornell football junior tight end Ryder Kurtz was named an AP All-America Honorable Mention, the publication announced Tuesday.

A total of 12 players from the Ivy League earned AP All-America status.

Kurtz, a second team All-Ivy selection, hauled in 44 receptions for 523 yards and four touchdowns in 10 games, averaging 11.9 yards per catch and 52.3 yards per game, the most among Ivy League tight ends. His four touchdown receptions ranked ninth in the conference and included scoring catches against UAlbany, Yale, Bucknell and Princeton. Kurtz also recorded a season-high nine receptions at Dartmouth. His receptions and receiving yards are single-season records for a Big Red tight end.

The junior became the first Cornell tight end to lead the team in both receptions and receiving yards since Dan Suren (26 receptions, 287 yards) in 1982. Kurtz is now the program's all-time leader in touchdowns and receiving yards by a tight end.

Earlier this week, Kurtz was named to the FCS Football Central All-America Third Team.
